The area has been without a doctor for the last two months.
The appointment of a new GP to a Westmeath village is being described as a welcome relief.
Ballymore has been without a doctor for the last two months - after the existing GP retired - and patients have had to travel to Ballymahon instead.
The HSE has now confirmed Dr. Waqas Farooqi will take up a permanent position in the joint Ballymore/Ballymahon practice on November 1st - and will provide four clinics per week at Ballymore Health Centre.
