The facility is expected to cost around €10 million.
A much-needed Primary Care Centre in the midlands won't be operational until the second quarter of 2026 at the earliest.
The HSE has confirmed the new facility in Portlaoise is being progressed through the 'various decision gates in line with Public Spending Code protocols, and is subject to approvals being granted.'
Capital funding was allocated for €the 10 million centre, which is planned to be constructed on the grounds of Saint Fintan’s Hospital Campus, back in 2020.
The Health Service intends to lodge a planning application early next year, with the facility expected to be completed in the second or third quarter of 2026.
