A new National Famine Way Roadshow is making its way through Westmeath this month.
The Irish Hertiage Trust is holding talks and presentations by leading local and international famine historians and will make its way to seven locations across the country.
The route mirrors the 165 kilometre walking and cycling trail that marks a route of forced emigration during the height of the famine in 1847.
It starts on Monday at Strokestown Park House in Roscommon, and will arrive at Mullingar Library on May 22nd at 6pm.
The road show will also go through Ballymahon, Trim, Blanchardstown, Dublin's City Centre.
The Westmeath event is in collaboration with the local authority, with no fee required but registration in advance is recommended.
