New Robot Helping To Tackle Covid At Midlands Hospital

It's hoped tech can used more and more in the daily running of healthcare facilities.

A midlands hospital is enlisting the services of a robot to help in their fight against covid-19.

The six-foot, wheeled device - more affectionately known as 'Violet' - uses UV light to destroy viruses and disinfect surfaces, limiting the danger of staff being exposed to disease, and can operate in areas that are difficult to clean.

In co-ordination with Trinity College, the system is being tested out Tullamore Regional Hospital.

The project lead, Dr. Conor McGinn says tech like this can increasingly help with the daily running of healthcare facilities:
