The man was accused of murdering his father in Ballyfin Demesne in Laois last month.
A 30 year old American man accused of murdering his father in a five star hotel in Laois has been further remanded in custody.
Henry McGowan with an address at 114 Clinton Street, Brooklyn, New York, USA is charged with murdering in Ballyfin Demesne, Ballyfin, Laois on Tuesday 12th of November.
Mr McGowan has been remanded in custody for another 11 days after a hearing he attended by video link this morning in Portlaoise District Court.
At the hearing, defending solicitor Barry Fitzgerald said that Mr McGowan was consenting to the state’s request to be remanded in custody to allow time for a book of evidence in the case to be prepared.
Mr Fitzgerald also asked that DVD footage, and memos of interviews, from the evidence gathered by Gardaí during his time of questioning when arrested, be provided to Mr McGowan’s consulting psychiatrist.
These are to assist the doctor in his assessment of his client.
Prosecuting Detective Garda Ger Galwey said he had no issues in supplying the requested information.
Judge Andrew Cody remanded Mr McGowan in custody until a sitting of Cloverhill District Court on Friday the 13th of December.
