Newly-Published Feasibility Study From 2019 Recommends New Laois Sports Hall

The Portlaoise Panthers were one of the leading Laois clubs in demonstrating against a lack of sporting facilities in the town

It expected such a facility would cost in the region of €20m.

A newly-published report from five years ago has recommended the development of a new sports hall in Laois.

The feasibility study suggests the provision of a new 12-court, multi-use, indoor hall, with the existing facilities said to be 'unable to cater for the demand.'

The 2019 report expected the cost of a new sports hall to cost in the region of €20 million, however it's believed an additional five million would need to be tacked on.

Sinn Féin Councillor, Caroline Dwane Stanley, says she's mystified as to why they haven't seen the study before:
