44% of women feel Gardaí are unhelpful on the matter according to the latest Women's Aid yearly report.
More 'on the beat' training is needed for Gardaí to deal with domestic violence and abuse cases.
That's the message from Offaly Domestic Violence Support Service as Women's Aid publishes their annual report today.
It reveals 44 per cent of women who sought Gardaí support on that issue last year found their response unhelpful,
Over 32,000 contacts were also made to Women's Aid last year, the highest number in its 50 year history.
