Analysis of the country's respiratory viruses from the Health Protection Survelliance Centre has found both counties are among the top seven in cases per 100,000
Westmeath ranks third in Ireland, with a rate of 53 per 100,000, while Offaly came in at seventh last week, where the rate there is 36.1 per 100,000.
Laois is on the other end of the scale, with the fourth lowest rate in the country.
There were over 1,200 cases of the flu reported last week, which includes over 300 hospitalisations and two deaths.
