He topped the polls in his district in the Local Elections.
An Offaly councillor, who topped the polls in his district for the Local Elections, has announced his intention to run for a nomination in his party for the General Election.
Fine Gael rep Neil Feighery was the first councillor to be elected in Tullamore and in Ofally earlier this summer with a total of 1,962 votes.
Fine Gael's selection convention will also take place in Tullmore on August 29th.
Councillor Feighery says "I have been overwhelmed with encouragement from my constituents and from Fine Gael members across the county to contest the Fine Gael selection convention for the nomination in the new three-seat Offaly constituency. I have consulted with my family and supporters, and after serious consideration, I have decided to allow my name to go forward".
