Offaly Councillor Questions Housing Scheme

Tullamore has been chosen to trial the new affordable housing priority scheme.

An affordable housing scheme in Offaly will fail to deliver affordable homes, according to a Councillor in the county.

It comes following the Department of Housing's approval for a scheme of priority for affordable dwelling purchasing agreements.

It sets out how the local authority will enter those agreements and will be sorted according to households where demand exceeds the number of homes available.

Tullamore will be the pilot area for the scheme before being rolled out in other towns.
