Offaly County Council is assessing how to tackle the threat to pedestrains posed by electric scooters.

A request to implement bye laws banning the vehicles on footpaths has been raised at a meeting of Tullamore Municipal District.

It comes as the street enhancement programme has led to a higher level of footfall in town centres, increasing the risk of being hit by the scooters.
