A family owned shop in Offaly spanning five generations has closed its doors for the final time.

De Cleirs in Kinnitty shut its doors on New Years Eve after first opening its doors in 1828.

The store provided daily essentials and had been a popular meeting point for locals.

David de Cleir worked in the shop and says the current climate for small businesses was a factor:
