Workers at an Offaly food plant are taking industrial action over working conditions
SIPTU members at Carroll’s Cuisine in Tullamore have voted to take industrial action, up to and including going on strike, in a dispute arising from the employer’s refusal to negotiate a collective agreement governing working conditions at the plant.
The campaign will start with work stoppages from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Friday, 31st October, and Saturday, 1st November.
Workers with the union will place pickets at the entrance to the plant during these stoppages.
SIPTU Manufacturing Divisional Organiser, Neil McGowan, says their members were left with no option due to management’s refusal to co-operate.
