It's to raise money for Share A Dream.
An Offaly based Garda is going to carry a 26kg rowing machine to the top of Ireland's tallest mountain before rowing 10km on the summit later today.
Ken McDonald is undertaking the challenge to raise €30,000 for Share A Dream, which grants wishes for children battling terminal and serious illnesses.
The Moneygall man is taking on the challenge of Carrauntoohil, which is 1,038.6 metres or 3,407 feet and 6 inches, after making a promise to the charity's founder Shay Kinsella, who passed away recently.
Garda McDonald is currently working in Birr having been redeployed from his role in Templemore during the covid pandemic.
