An Offaly man has almost hit his fundraising goal of over 200,000 euros in a day to afford life-saving treatment in the US from an extremely rare form of cancer.
Kinnitty's Daniel Mooney was diagnosed with Stage 4 Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumours last May.
It shows up in the abdomen and pelvis, with only 30 cases reported worldwide each year and up to 60 per cent of people diagnosed get a 3 year prognosis to live.
The father-of-two will undergo a procedure this week to remove the cancer sites, having already gone through nine rounds of chemotherapy.
