The ceremony starts at 10:45 this morning.
An Offaly man is one of just five cadets to receive his commission as an officer in the Naval Service today.
Cadet Adam Galvin will receive the title of ensign and is a step closer to a career working on some of the nation's big ships.
As a member of the 59th Naval Service Cadet Class, his commission will be signed by President Michael D Higgins and presented by the Minister for Defence and Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney.
The Cappincur man says his cadet training at the Curragh was incredibly rewarding.
Midlands 103's Claire O Brien spoke to Cadet Adam Galvin ahead of his commission as an officer in the Naval Service.
