A woman unexpectedly went into labour at Applegreen in Caragh, Co. Kildare.
With the help of an ambulance crew from Edenderry, baby Ellie was delivered at the scene at 6 o'clock that evening.
Ambulance officer Janette Oman Power and Chief Officer for North Leinster, Richard Quinland, then safely transferred the new arrival and her mother to the Coombe Hospital in Dublin.
