Offaly TD Carol Nolan is making the call especially in relation to adding fibromyalgia to the list.
The Health Department is confirming there is no plan to extend the list of conditions included on the Long-Term Illness Scheme.
Offaly TD Carol Nolan says "it's a bitter pill to swallow" for the women in her constituency that have contacted her on the issue, especially in relation to fibromyalgia.
The condition causes severe musculoskeletal pain, fatigue and ‘fibro fog'.
It affects up to 1 in 20 people in Ireland, with women being seven times more likely to experience it than men.
The current LTI scheme has not been reviewed since 1975, with the UK and Northern Ireland classing it as a long term illness in 2016.
