Offaly Wheelchair User Discriminated By Motorists

He comes across spaces taken by people with no blue disabled badge.  

An Offaly wheelchair user and disability rights campaigner believes the abuse of disabled parking spaces is getting worse.  

Mountlucas man, John McFarlane, says he regularly comes across spaces being taken in Edenderry by people who don't have the blue disabled badge.  

In one instance at a Dublin hotel, he was stopped from parking in an accessible spot by a car owned by the hotel manager.  

The most recent census tells us that 14% of the country's population is disabled, 10% of those people use a wheelchair, however, only 10% of that 10% are permanent wheelchair users.  

Mr McFarlane says the disabled community want to get on with their day to day life like everyone else:
