Both have been recovered and are undergoing forensic investigation.
A technical examination is underway after a stolen car was used to break in to a premises in Laois.
Two cars - a blue Toyota Avensis and a blue Chevrolet - were stolen from the Clonkeen area of Portlaoise between 8.30 Sunday night and 12.30 Monday morning.
The Toyota was subsequently used to break into a waste water treatment plant on Ridge Road, Portlaoise - although nothing was taken during the incident.
Both vehicles were recovered in the Clondouglas and Rockview Drive areas of Portlaoise and are being examined by the crime scenes investigation team.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have any information to contact Portlaoise Garda Station.
