There are only two in home childminders registered with Tusla in the Midlands.

Offaly has none at all on the list while Laois and Westmeath have one apiece.

Tusla made it a legal requirement in 2016 to be registered with them if a person is caring for four or more pre-school children.

Latest figures show there are just 81 on the register across the country.
