Outbreak Of Covid-19 At Midlands Prison Contained

The Prison is expected to return to a more normal operational regime this morning.

The Irish Prison Service say an outbreak of covid-19 at the midlands prison has been contained.

Further mass testing of prisoners and staff has been completed with no additional confirmed cases.

Five inmates tested positive in October, with the HSE's outbreak control team deployed to test the other 810 detainees the following day.

That operation is now being wound down and the prison was expecting to return to a more normal regime this morning.
