Creches in the midlands may go on strike to shake the government into action over ongoing funding issues.

SIPTU says childcare providers are struggling to maintain staff and stay in business, while parents are also being forced to pay soaring prices.

The union is launching a funding model at the end of this month and is urging the government to also do so immediately.

A meeting will be held tomorrow to discuss the possibility of industrial action.
