Over 32,000 People Waiting For Out-Patient Appointments At Midlands Hospitals

One local TD says the backlog is spiraling out of control.

Over 32,000 people are awaiting out-patient appointments in midlands hospitals. 

Tullamore Regional Hospital has the biggest backlog of 16,400, followed by 8,900 in Mullingar and 6650 in Portlaoise. 

Sinn Féin's Sorca Clarke says an integrated list management system is needed to allow patients in need of care to be referred elsewhere. 

The Longford-Westmeath TD believes this would relieve the backlog, which is spiraling out of control:
