Over 3,600 People Waiting For Driving Test In The Midlands

The RSA has re-hired 18 testers.

Just over 3,600 people in the midlands are awaiting a driving test. 

The largest waiting list is in Westmeath at 1,487, there's over 1,350 in Offaly and 759 in Laois.

The Road Safety Authority has re-hired 18 testers and is operating on Saturdays in an effort to reduce the backlog. 

Its communications manager Brian Farrell says they're aware the situation is unacceptable:
