Over 4,700 Children Waiting For Specialist Therapy Services In Laois/Offaly

The majority have been waiting over a year.

Over 4,700 children are waiting for occupational therapy, speech and language and psychology services in Laois and Offaly. 

The majority of those on the list have been waiting over a year for an appointment for assessment or therapy. 

Sinn Fein TD Brian Stanley described the situation as "truly awful" when he raised the issue in the Dail yesterday evening. 

Minister of State Anne Rabbitte says the large volume of referrals to services and recruitment issues have led to the backlog.
