Water restrictions will be in place from 10pm tonight until 6am tomorrow morning.
Irish Water and Westmeath County Council are warning there will be water restrictions in Athlone tonight.
Customers in Athlone Town, Baylin, Mount Temple, The Ories, Garrycastle, Dublin Road, Ardnaglug, Fardrum, Moydrum, Blyry, Killyon Hill, Bonavalley and the surrounding areas will be affected.
The utility says it's necessary to allow water levels in the Annagh reservoir to recover following operational issues at the water treatment plant.
Water restrictions will be in place from 10pm tonight, Monday, 30th September, until 6am tomorrow morning, Tuesday, 1st October.
Due to water pressure issues in the area, alternative water supplies have been placed in Mount Temple village to minimise disruption to customers. Customers must bring their own containers to avail of the water and are advised that water must be boiled before consumption as a precaution.
Irish Water says the night-time restriction is necessary to ensure customers have a water supply to their homes and businesses during the daytime and that there is an adequate quantity of water available to supply industries, schools, residences and commercial activities during business hours.
The water supply will restore to customers as the network refills. It can take a number of hours for the water to restore to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network once the water supply is turned back on. We expect that supply will return to customers between 6 am and 8am as the water returns to the network.
