Parents are having difficulties navigating ongoing works on a controversial asylum seeker accommodation site in Westmeath located near a school and creche.
General election candidate for Longford-Westmeath Dymphna Cuniffe says parents of children in Cornamaddy School are planning a silent protest by taking their children out of the school.
Aside from this issue, Ms Cuniffe is also campaigning for better infrastructure in the region.
Local representatives in Athlone are seeking legal advice on an injuction to stop works by the Department of Integration on the temporary accommodation site which could house up to 1,000 asylum seekers.
