Patients Could Die Due To Hospital Overcrowding

The Emergency Department Task Force is meeting to discuss overcrowding in Irish hospitals. 

One person a day could die due to overcrowding in Irish hospitals, according to patient advocacy groups. 

32 people are on trolleys in the Midlands, with a total of 577 awaiting for a bed across the country today.

Figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation also show 18 patients in Mullingar Hospital are waiting while 13 are on trolleys at the Tullamore facility with one person waiting for a bed in Portlaoise Hospital.
