The Peatlands and Natura Community Engagement Scheme has awarded funds to projects across the region.
Just under 40 thousand euro has been granted to Midlands community groups for peatland and natural environment conservation work.
In Laois, the Abbeyleix Bog Project has won funding of nearly €20,000 as part of the Peatlands and Natura Community Engagement Scheme.
The Clara Heritage Society is getting €8,400 for their Bog Trotter Festival & Summer Solstice Celebration.
In Westmeath over €7,000 in funding is being granted for conservation and promotion works for both the Milltownpass Bog’s Botanical Ecosystem Project, and the Cloncrow Bog Project.
While Kilteevan Tidy Towns in Roscommon is in line for €4,540 for their work on the Cloonlarge Bog Walk on the Lilliput Way.
