John 'Johnny' Hoolan from Dunkerrin was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident occurred on Roscrea / Shinrone road in the Mountheaton area between 5:30 and 6pm.
His funeral mass will take place in St. Mary's Church, Dunkerrin on Monday at 12 noon.
