A petition to the incoming Minister for Justice to stop the deportation of a Laois family to Nigeria has almost hit its target of 2,000 signatures in just under 48 hours.
Over 1,700 people have signed the Uplift petition asking for them to intervene in the case of Lucy Adebowale and her family.
They're currently awaiting a second appeal hearing for International Protection Status which was granted earlier this month.
The petition was started by a teacher at St Mary's CBS Katerina Foley who teaches some of Lucy's children.
It's believed the father, who returned to Nigeria from Ireland is abusive to his family and has made alleged death threats to the family.
