The 'Arden Lane' site in Tullamore has been selected as the location.
The Department of Health is preparing to lodge a planning application for the new midlands hospice.
It comes after a protracted site evaluation process led to the selection of the 'Arden Lane' site in Tullamore over the Wellwood Healthcare Campus for the 20 bed facility in September.
The HSE says the new development project has now completed its detailed design stage, and a planning application will be lodged in March 2025.
The new hospice will provide specialist palliative care services for the Midlands region.
