Postmasters "Fully Prepared" For New Business From Bank Of Ireland Closures

The bank is shutting nine branches in the midlands today.

The Irish Postmasters' Union says it's fully prepared to take on more business from Bank of Ireland.

The bank is closing nine of its branches in the midlands today, with some services diverted to local post offices instead.

Midlands rep for the IPU, Tommy Hickson, says staff are already handling some business for AIB and Ulster Bank and are fully-trained for the move.

He says, while the partnership is a welcome boost, more is needed to secure the future of the post office network:
