SIPTU and management are meeting to mediate.
Jobs could be in jeopardy at a cheese production facility in Laois.
SIPTU and management at Leprino Cheese, which employs around 100 people, are heading to the Workplace Relations Commission for mediation after failing to resolve a dispute over shift patterns.
Sources close to the case say the company intends to reduce their shift cycles from 4 to 3 per week for staff.
This move would require less staffing at the Portlaoise plant, and would likely lead to job losses.
SIPTU, who represent around 70 staff in Leprino, says following negotiations, an agreement couldn't be reached and they are heading to the Workplace Relations Commission conciliation service, in line with their collective agreement.
It's believed it could be two to six weeks before the mediation process begins.
