Proposed Cut To EU Rural Development Funding

The IFA President says it could mean a direct hit to farmers' livelihoods.

The IFA claims farm incomes will be raided for rural development grants under EU budget plans. 

The Irish Times reports EU president Charles Michel wants to allow states to transfer cash from direct cash payments to farmers. 

It's so they can make up for a proposed cut of 7.5 billion euro to the Common Agriculture Policy's rural development budget.
