Protest Held Over Shannon Pipeline

Around 50 boats took part in a rally on Saturday to oppose the largest water project in the State's history.

The organiser of a demonstration against the Shannon pipeline says people in Offaly will not benefit from the project.

Around 50 boats took to the river in a rally on Saturday to oppose the largest water project in the State's history which will run through the county.

Formal planning permission has been submitted by Uisce Eireann for the 170km steel pipeline.
