The Water Supply Project Eastern and Midlands Region may cost up to €10bn.
The deadline for Public Consultation on the Water Supply Project Eastern and Midlands Region is later tonight.
This will be one of the largest water supply projects in the State's history to develop a new, climate-resilient, long-term water source to meet the demands of the growing population and economy.
The Water Supply Project Eastern and Midlands Region will take water from the Lower River Shannon, to be treated in Tipperary and then piped through Tipperary, Offaly and Kildare.
It will then travel to a termination point reservoir at Peamount in Dublin to connect into the Greater Dublin Area water distribution network.
The project will have the capacity to meet water supply needs for up to half of the national population.
A report has estimated it could cost anything from €3.3bn to a worst-case scenario of €10.4bn.
Uisce Éireann have hosted public information open days in Birr and Tullamorein January.
The public's last chance to give their feedback on the proposals ends at midnight tonight.
