A public meeting on the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees in a midlands town is taking place tonight.
750 people fleeing the war are due to stay in glamping facilities on the site of Electric Picnic in Stradbally.
The Department of Integration says its signed a contract with Stradbally Hall, to accommodate refugees for a period of six weeks - that plan gets underway today.
A public meeting on that move is taking place in the Market House in the town this evening, at around 7pm.
It's hoped the public meeting tonight will reassure residents of a midlands town, the accommodation of refugees is "above board" according to Laois County Council Cathaoirleach, Paschal McEvoy
