A donation will be given to a charity for every set recycled.
Recycling Christmas lights is being used as a method to aid the homeless in the midlands.
KMK Metals Recycling have promised a donation to the Midlands Simon Community for every set of Christmas lights recycled at the end of this year.
Collection points have been set up in the Bridge Centre in Tullamore, Golden Islands Shopping Centre in Athlone and Harbour Place Shopping Centre in Mullingar.
This is the eighth year of the campaign to help people in the region who are homeless or who are at risk of becoming homeless.
Max Kyck, General Manager of KMK Metals Recycling says " It is far too easy to realise your Christmas lights are beyond repair and just stuff them back up in the attic out of sight. Midlands Simon Community and all its volunteers need this support to offer homes to people who are homeless, provide tents and sleeping bags to those who are rough sleeping and emergency accommodation for those in crisis."
