Reducing Speed Limits Could Help Lower Emissions

The Dutch Government is to reduce the speed limits on many of its roads in a bid to cut pollution.

Experts say reducing our speed limits could have a significant impact on lowering emissions.

The Dutch Government yesterday announced plans to reduce the speed limit from 130 to 100 kilometres an hour on many of its roads in a bid to cut pollution.

The new law is set to be introduced next year, and will be the joint lowest in the EU along with Cyprus.

Portlaoise motoring journalist Bob Flavin doesn't believe such a move is needed in Ireland:
