Westmeath is now the fifth most expensive county in Leinster outside of Dublin to rent a home, Laois is 7th and Offaly 9th.
The average rent in the Lake County now stands at €1,082, up 3.4% in the last quarter and 6.6% in 12 months.
Laois isn't far behind at €1,056 on average for a 3.2% rise so far this year and more than 5% in the year to May.
Offaly remains the most affordable county by a whisker with prices of €1,010 on average, up 3.3% in 2021 and a whopping 8% since this time last year.
It coincides with a further drop in housing stock.
Less than 400 homes were available for rent outside the capital on May 1st.
That's a reduction of 26% since the onset of covid-19.
Nationally Leinster is the least affordable province to live in followed by Munster, the border region and Connacht.
