Revenue officers made the official seizure from a parcel at the DPD Athlone Parcel Hub.
Over the past week, commencing 20/04/2026, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €608,900 in various operations in the Midlands ,Dublin, and Rosslare Europort.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:
- 7.2kg of cocaine, with an estimated value of over €503,000,
- 1.9kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €37,400,
- 171 counterfeit items, with an estimated value of over €35,700,
- 2.4kg of cannabis resin, with an estimated value of over €14,100,
- Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €10,400, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €8,100, and
- Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €8,200.
The 7.2kg cocaine seizure was made as a result of a physical search by Revenue officers of a parcel originating from Rotterdam received at the DPD Athlone Parcel Hub.
The herbal cannabis and remaining illicit drugs seizures were made as a result of risk profiling with the assistance of detector dogs Ciara and Jasper. The parcels originated from the USA, the UK, and Spain, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.
The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Six weapons accessories were also seized.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
