1.7kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of over €36,600 was seized.
Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €116,000 in various operations in the Midlands, Dublin and Rosslare Europort.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:
- 1.7kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €36,600,
- 158 counterfeit items, with an estimated value of €29,800,
- 1325 tabs of LSD, with an estimated value of over €13,200,
- Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €13,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €9,900,
- Various illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €9,000,
- 1.3kg of cannabis resin, with an estimated value of over €8,100, and
- Over 528 litres of alcohol, with an estimated value of over €5,300, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €2,900.
The herbal cannabis and illicit drugs seizures were made as a result of risk profiling with the assistance of detector dogs Sam and Ciara. The parcels originated from the UK, the USA, Canada, Thailand and Slovakia, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.
The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights. Four hundred and eighty-five weapons accessories were also seized.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
