The Government is scrapping plans to reform the Road Safety Authority.
The Irish Road Haulage Association is accusing the government of a "damaging u-turn".
It comes as it abandoned planned reforms of the Road Safety Authority despite committing to change following a major report last year.
IRHA president from Rosenallis Ger Hyland believes the decision will lead to more road deaths, prolong failures in the driver testing system and leave an agency unfit for purpose intact.
He says the Governments tax take is higher than ever and monetary value should not be a consideration on anybody's life.
