RTE Redundancies Are A "Sticking Plaster" - NUJ

The State broadcaster is looking to reduce their employment numbers to balance the books.

The National Union of Journalists is branding a new voluntary redundancy scheme by RTE as 'political.'

The scheme aims to reduce staff numbers by up to 400 people.

Payments will be based on an employee's exit salary and they won't qualify for any further redundancy packages.

The programme is open until the end of next month and those who are successful will have to leave by the end of the year.
