Thousands of students in the midlands are affected by a suspension of the school vaccine programme.
Laois-Offaly TD Brian Stanley says the roll-out of regular vaccines to prevent measles, mumps, rubella, and cervical cancer has been halted in the HSE Community Health Organisation 8, which encompasses Laois, Offaly, Westmeath and Longford.
However, he says reasoning behind the decision is unclear - as there's no apparent shortage of staff or supply of vaccines, and schools ARE looking for the immunisation programme to continue.
He's appealing to the Health Minister to clear up the issue:
