Cathaoirleach of Offaly County Council John Leahy has confirmed he'll back Mr Sheridan.
The chair of Offaly County Council says he's hopeful Fianna Fail councillors will allow Gareth Sheridan's nomination for the presidential election.
The local authority will make its decision this afternoon, with Fine Gael reps certain to oppose his candidacy.
Mr. Sheridan already has backing from Kerry and Tipperary, however he fell one vote short in Meath earlier today.
Independent councillor for Birr John Leahy will get the tiebreaker vote as Cathaoirleach, and will vote in favour of Mr Sheridan.
