It comes weeks after Brian Stanley recently announced his departure from the party.
Sinn Fein Councillor Caroline Dwane-Stanley has been appointed to a European Commission.
The party's only councillor in Laois will serve on the European Committee of the Regions.
The group, which consists of 11 representatives, works to assess the impact of EU legislation on towns, regions, and cities.
It comes after Ms. Dwane-Stanley's husband, Brian Stanley, walked away from the party over an internal investigation over texts he allegedly sent to a young woman.
The Laois Offaly TD will run as an Independent candidate in the forthcoming general election.
Yesterday, Sinn Féin appointed Mairead Farrell as Mr Stanley's replacement as the chair of the Public Accounts Committee.
Deputy Farrell is both the youngest chair and the first woman chair of the committee.
It is still not yet clear if Councillor Dwane-Stanley will continue as a member of Sinn Féin.
Deputy Political Editor of the Irish Examiner, Paul Hosford, says it was surprising to see she had still been nominated for the role:
