The former minister was appointed as a UN Special Envoy by Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney.
Sinn Fein says there is a "whiff of cronyism" about Katherine Zappone's appointment as the UN Special Envoy.
The Public Accounts Committee, which is chaired by Laois Offaly TD Brian Stanley, is to examine her selection.
Ms. Zappone hosted around 50 friends and former colleagues including Tanaiste Leo Varadkar at an event in the Merrion Hotel in Dublin six days before she was given the role.
